A work to behold, don’t miss Vaughan Williams’ enchanting cantata Dona nobis pacem, performed by the Masterwork Festival Chorus and New York City Chamber Orchestra, with soprano and baritone soloists, led by guest conductor Lynda Hasseler at world-renowned Carnegie Hall!
In Dona nobis pacem, Vaughan Williams expresses his plea for peace with texts taken from the Mass, three poems by Walt Whitman, a political speech, and sections of the Bible. The phrase Dona nobis pacem ("Give us peace"), in different settings, punctuates throughout the entire piece.
The National Festival Choruses, led by guest conductors Lee Nelson and Sandra Peter, will perform a wonderful selection of choral works including Handel’s “Your Voices Tune” from Alexander’s Feast, Lauridsen’s “The Prayer”, Mark A. Miller’s “I Choose Love,” Gwyneth Walker’s “Now I Become Myself,” and more.
The concert will also include a performance from Capital University Chapel Choir conducted by Lynda Hasseler.
