Manhattan Concert Productions presents Duruflé’s Requiem, featuring the New York City Chamber Orchestra and Masterworks Festival Chorus, all under the direction of Guest Conductor Dr. Alan Raines.  Raines’ choirs have performed throughout the United States and Europe and have received invitations to perform for conventions of the American Choral Directors Association, Music Educators National Conference and the National Collegiate Choral Organization.

It is important to note that Duruflé was also working on an organ suite using themes from a plethora of Gregorian chants when he composed the Requiem; hence nearly all of the thematic material in this work comes from chant.  You can listen to an except of this glorious piece here.

This will be followed by the National Festival Chorus performing a selection of intricate choral works from Farthing, Haydn, Sowers and more, with Guest Conductor Dr. Jeffery Redding.

The concert will also feature Eastern Kentucky University Singers, conducted by Dr. Richard Waters.

Tickets are now on sale.
