Gloria, Poulenc
Anton Armstrong, Guest Conductor
One of Poulenc’s most celebrated works, the Gloria was scored for soprano solo, orchestra and chorus and will be performed by the professional Manhattan Concert Chorale, New York City Chamber Orchestra, and Masterworks Festival Chorus, all under guest conductor Dr. Anton Armstrong.
Following a sold out performance at Alice Tully Hall in December, Manhattan Concert Chorale returns to present another wonderful program of handpicked works especially for this performance, including Purcell’s Soul of the World from his renowned Ode, Hail! Bright Cecilia; Vaughan Williams’ Easter from Five Mystical Songs and Serenade to Music, as well as Manhattan Concert Chorale’s Composer in Residence, Ola Gjeilo’s Ubi Caritas II: Through Infinite Ages and an arrangement of the spiritual Ezekiel Saw the Wheel.
This concert will also feature Temple University Concert Choir from Philadelphia under the direction of Dr. Paul Rardin.
