Manhattan Concert Productions presents Haydn’s Missa in tempore belliPaukenmesse” (Mass in the Time of War) with the Masterworks Festival Chorus, the all-professional New York City Chamber Orchestra and soloists Lianne Coble, Soprano, Marguerite Krull, Mezzo-Soprano, Bryce Westervelt, Tenor and Jason Thoms, Bass, led by Guest Conductor Daniel Bara at renowned Carnegie Hall.

Haydn’s Missa in tempore belli (Mass in the Time of War), also known as the Paukenmesse, gets its title from its use of the timpani, or Pauken in German. Haydn opens his mass with a symphony-like Kyrie and moves seamlessly throughout the Gloria, Credo, and Sanctus. Haydn introduces the “In Tempore Belli” in the Benedictus, which he sets mostly in short nervous phrases for solo quartet, ending with an exciting timpani-driven Agnus Dei and celebration of peace, “Dona nobis pacem”.

The concert will also feature the National Festival Chorus with Guest Conductor Lee Nelson and the National Children’s Festival Chorus with Guest Conductor Emily Ellsworth in a wonderful collection of choral works. Both esteemed Guest Conductors bring a wealth of choral expertise to this exciting choral concert.  You will also have the opportunity to enjoy The Treble Choir of Houston at Christ Church Cathedral conducted by Marianna Parnas-Simpson.

Don’t miss Haydn’s Paukenmesse and a thrilling array of choral works at world-renowned Carnegie Hall.
